TOFD is an innovative ultrasonic technique, based on the phenomenon of time traveled through a diffracted sound wave. This technique senses and analyzes the diffracted sound according to the times at the extremes (top and bottom) and to the existing discontinuities inside a welding.

Although associated costs and complexity are superior to other techniques, TOFD allows to:

• Reduce the inspection time and significant savings in downtime;
• Detection of various types of discontinuities, regardless of its orientation and type;
• Registration of discontinuities in real time, with images, enabling more detailed reports.
